Ceremonial Opening of the Mirabilium Collectio Platform
On Friday, March 27, 2026, the ceremonial opening of the Mirabilium Collectio platform took place at the Poznań University Library. The event, organized by the Library, was attended by approximately 70 invited guests. Among them were the Vice-Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University for Digitalization and Cooperation with Industry, Prof. Michał Banaszak; the heads of the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department at the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, Mr. Tomasz Parkoła and Ms. Aleksandra Nowak; the Director of the Kórnik Library, Dr. habil. Magdalena Biniaś-Szkopek; the Director of the Raczyński Library, Katarzyna Kamińska; as well as representatives of the libraries of AMU’s organizational units, faculty and institute representatives and researchers along with representatives of Poznań’s archival and academic institutions.
The gala opened with a lecture panel presenting the history of the platform’s development, the IT solutions implemented, and its functionalities. As noted by Prof. Rafał Wójcik, Deputy Director of the Poznań University Library, “today’s audience expects not only scans, but also rich, reliable metadata that helps to understand the context and significance of objects. Hence the need to create a platform that combines visualization with in-depth description.” It was also emphasized that the creators aimed to develop something more than a digital library—namely, a research tool useful both for librarians and for scholars dealing with the regional history of Greater Poland or the history of the book.
Following the presentations, participants attended a showcase of the most valuable objects featured on the Mirabilium Collectio platform, drawn from the collections of individual units within the Special Collections Department.
The opening of Mirabilium Collectio was also covered in the media:
