Opening of the exhibition “Mirabilium Collectio” at the Poznań University Library
Databases, collections, a geoportal, and plans to make even more objects available online. On Friday, May 8, 2026, the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the Mirabilium Collectio digital platform and the collections it presents took place at the Poznań University Library. The event was accompanied by a lecture delivered by the Deputy Director of the Library, Dr habil. Rafał Wójcik, entitled “From Scanning to Knowledge Ecosystems: How Major Libraries Develop Digital Platforms for Special Collections.”
Over the coming weeks, visitors can explore a series of panels presenting not only descriptions of the Library’s special collections as well as the databases and collections available on the Mirabilium Collectio platform, but also future plans for making further valuable publications available online. The most important part of the exhibition, however, consists of original objects, including a treatise on chiromancy from 1504, a Renaissance binding from the 16th century, a map of Poznań from the early 18th century, 18th-century musical autographs by Carl Friedrich Abel, postcards published by Leonard Durczykiewicz, Masonic songbooks, the periodical “Mrówka Poznańska” from the first half of the 19th century, Kościuszko-related telegrams, and many others.
The exhibition is presented in the first-floor lobby of the Poznań University Library and will be open to visitors until June 2, 2026.
The Mirabilium Collectio platform development project was carried out between 2023 and 2025.
